April 13, 2020 Growth When a World Stands Still

Well, this was an interesting Lent indeed.

Looking back, I may feel like I didn’t do what I intended to accomplish, but then with deep reflection I realized growth and change still happened, and that’s awesome. Road blocks I’ve struggled with for years have dwindled away, but I know not without small steps of continual personal reflection, hard work, and prayer. It’s amazing when it dawns on you one day that a block has disappeared and you can walk down a new road of discovery. God meets you and works inside of you little by little and it’s a beautiful thing.

I found myself walking away from social media to declutter my life and then in the midst of it all, realizing it was one of the major ways I had to stay in touch with people during this new normal. Backfired? Not really. I want to use social media with purpose and intent more. Getting back to my roots of blogging too. I would have loved connecting with friends and family in person more and having that quality time, but now as I wait to do that, I realize this situation we are in can and is bringing people together.

How did you grow this Lent season? What are you learning about yourself during this time at home? What are you struggling with? How can you face those struggles in a different way than you have with past struggles?

Even though there is death, sadness, uncertainty, and hardships for so many of us, there is also an opportunity to face ourselves and ask how we need to change and grow and connect with others we haven’t talked to in a long time, even if it is virtually. There are still many doors of opportunity to walk through, it’s just up to each of us to take a deep breath and take the first step. He will meet you there. 🙏❤️
